Set on the 22nd floor of AIRA Sukhumvit 11, this rooftop bar and restaurant pairs Bangkok\u2019s skyline with a laid-back Riviera atmosphere and a kitchen led by Michelin-starred Executive Chef Kilian Fioretto. With Pastel quickly establishing itself as one of the city\u2019s most talked-about skybars<\/a>, The Luxury Editor was invited to experience it for ourselves<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The journey begins in a fairly understated hotel lobby, but once the lift doors open, you\u2019re transported somewhere far more atmospheric. A glowing neon sign marks your arrival before the space opens into a rooftop terrace edged with bamboo, archways and Mediterranean-style tiling. Inside, the design is eclectic yet cohesive, a blend of breezy Riviera tones and Bali-inspired details. It\u2019s sun-drenched and relaxed by day, then moody and magnetic after dark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of it all is Executive Chef Kilian Fioretto. Swiss-born and Michelin-starred at Les Montagnards in Broc, Fioretto brings serious culinary roots but lets the food speak for itself. His move to Bangkok was driven by curiosity, a desire to explore fusion, to adapt Mediterranean traditions using vibrant Asian ingredients, and to lead with flavour rather than formality. What results is a menu that feels intuitive, with bold but balanced dishes that champion quality produce and clear technique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dishes are designed for sharing, making it a wonderful place to linger over plates, conversation, and good company. From timeless Mediterranean classics to dishes with a touch of exotic flair, Pastel caters to every palate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were seated out on the open terrace, where the city views of skyscrapers are silhouetted against the early evening sky, the soft glow of golden hour settling over Bangkok. There\u2019s something undeniably cinematic about dining with this kind of backdrop and something only Bangkok can deliver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We began with the Truffle Toast, where silky Parmigiano met the earthy sharpness of fresh black truffle on crisp toast, indulgent without being heavy. The Table-Side Guacamole brought a moment of flair, prepared in front of us with avocado, lime, pomegranate, and coriander. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For mains we chose the A.O.P Seafood Linguine which stood out for its restraint, just olive oil, garlic, a whisper of chilli, and perfectly al dente pasta laced with sweet, clean seafood. The Salmon Beurre Blanc was all about texture and detail: a crisp pan-sear, soft centre, and a basil-laced sauce that gave lift rather than weight. And the Wagyu Ribeye? A charcoal-kissed cut with deep flavour, paired with a Proven\u00e7al tian and red wine jus that made it feel properly celebratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the city lights flicker to life, Pastel shifts from elegant dining spot to effortlessly cool evening venue. Soft, stylish music fills the space, and some evenings treat you to a live saxophonist who moves gracefully from table to table, adding a soulful touch to the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s no shortage of rooftop venues in Bangkok, but Pastel manages to stand apart. The setting is striking, the energy well-judged, and the food, under Chef Kilian Fioretto, quietly confident. It\u2019s the kind of place that draws you in for a drink and keeps you there longer than planned, and that\u2019s exactly the point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
